Houbigant's own entry in the chypre genre that Coty had founded three years earlier, built on bergamot in the opening, a jasmine-and-rose heart, and the classic oakmoss-labdanum-patchouli base that defines the family. That a major rival house released its own chypre so soon after Coty's founding composition illustrates how quickly the genre's bergamot-mossy-resin architecture became an industry-wide template rather than a proprietary structure. It represents Houbigant's direct engagement with one of the era's most significant new fragrance families, alongside the house's own fougere and floral traditions.
