Created by Jean Guichard for Calvin Klein, Obsession opens on mandarin, bergamot, and peach, moves through a heart of vanilla, spices, jasmine, and rose, and closes on amber, sandalwood, musk, and vanilla. Its warm, sensual amber-vanilla structure, paired with famously provocative black-and-white advertising imagery, positioned Calvin Klein as a major fragrance house capable of the same cultural impact as its fashion line, and Obsession remains one of the most commercially significant American designer fragrances of the 1980s.
