Kobako(1936)

Created by Ernest Beaux for Bourjois, Kobako opens on bergamot, aldehydes, and clove, moves through a heart of carnation, ylang-ylang, and cinnamon, and closes on sandalwood, musk, and amber. Its spiced carnation-cinnamon heart echoes the genre Caron's Bellodgia had popularized nearly a decade earlier, applied here by Beaux to Bourjois's more accessible price point, following the same democratizing approach he had taken with Soir de Paris.
