Created by Pierre Wargnye for Guy Laroche, Drakkar Noir opens on bergamot, lavender, rosemary, basil, and coriander, moves through a heart of jasmine, patchouli, and juniper berries, and closes on sandalwood, cedar, tonka bean, oakmoss, and leather. Its darker, more aggressive reworking of the original 1972 Drakkar became one of the best-selling and most influential masculine fragrances of the 1980s, its dense aromatic-woody-leather structure widely imitated across the decade and still regarded as a defining reference for that era's mainstream men's perfumery.
