Yatagan(1976)

Created by Gerard Lefort for Caron, Yatagan opens on bergamot, artemisia, and cumin, moves through a heart combining leather, patchouli, and oakmoss, and closes on leather, musk, and oakmoss. Named for a curved Ottoman sword, its unusually prominent cumin note gives it an animalic intensity that made it one of the more challenging, distinctive masculine leather chypres of the 1970s, still discussed by perfume enthusiasts as an underappreciated genre landmark.
