Fragrantica dates this tobacco-leather composition to the same founding decade as Creed's Royal English Leather, positioning it as the earliest expression of a Tabarome theme the house would revisit commercially in 2000. The scent opens on bergamot and citrus, moves into a heart of tobacco leaf and spices, and settles into a base built from leather, ambergris, and oakmoss, an animalic, smoky profile suited to snuff-taking gentlemen of the late 18th century, when tobacco and perfumery were closely linked trades. Like much of Creed's earliest history, the precise formula and date rest on the house's own record-keeping rather than independent contemporary documentation, and should be read as part of Creed's origin narrative rather than an externally verified fact. The tobacco-leather-oakmoss structure it describes was, however, a genuinely common genre in this period, echoed in gentlemen's fragrances across European perfumery houses. Its modern descendant, the 2000 Tabarome release, is a distinct commercial reformulation rather than a direct continuation of this original.
