Pois de Senteur de Chez Moi(1927)

Created by Ernest Daltroff for Caron, Pois de Senteur de Chez Moi, Sweet Peas From My Garden, opens on bergamot and green notes before a heart built around sweet pea alongside rose and jasmine, closing on musk and woods. Sweet pea, like several other delicate garden flowers, has little extractable natural scent, so this composition's sweet pea note relies on synthetic reconstruction to capture the flower's fresh, faintly honeyed character. Its intimate, personal naming, from my garden rather than an abstract or geographic title, situates it among Caron's more domestically-scaled, tender compositions alongside the grander Bellodgia and Nuit de Noel released around the same years.
