Oeillet Malmaison(1923)

A carnation composition from Molinard built around the Malmaison variety, a large, fringed pink carnation cultivar named for the Chateau de Malmaison, opening on bergamot and clove before the overdosed carnation heart, closing on musk, woods, and amber. Specifying the Malmaison cultivar rather than a generic carnation reflects the flower's genuine horticultural prestige in this period. It represents a more specific, connoisseurial take on the carnation soliflore genre than the plainer versions released by rival houses.
