Musc(1920)

A musk-forward composition from Molinard, opening on bergamot and citrus before a floral heart, closing on an overdosed musk note and woods. Musk, historically derived from the musk deer before synthetic alternatives became standard through the 20th century, was prized for the warm, skin-like sensuality it lent to a composition's base. Naming a fragrance directly and simply Musc signals an intent to foreground that base material more directly than the era's typical practice of using musk as a supporting rather than starring note.
