Le Dix Eau de Toilette(1947)

Created by Francis Fabron for Balenciaga, Le Dix opens on aldehydes, bergamot, and neroli, moves through a heart of jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang, and iris, and closes on sandalwood, musk, amber, and vanilla. Named for the address of Cristobal Balenciaga's Paris couture house at 10 Avenue George V, it represents the influential Spanish couturier's first venture into perfumery, extending his fashion house's exacting, architectural design sensibility into fragrance. Its aldehydic-iris structure situates it within the mature aldehydic-floral genre established by Chanel No. 5 and Arpege decades earlier, applied with Balenciaga's own refined, understated elegance.
