Created by Francis Fabron for Givenchy, L'Interdit, The Forbidden, opens on aldehydes, bergamot, and peach, moves through a heart of iris, rose, jasmine, and violet, and closes on sandalwood, musk, and vetiver. The fragrance was created at the request of Audrey Hepburn, a close friend and muse of designer Hubert de Givenchy, and was initially reserved exclusively for her personal use before public demand led Givenchy to release it commercially, a rare and celebrated origin story in perfumery.
