Amour Amour(1925)

Created by Henri Almeras for Jean Patou, Amour Amour opens on bergamot and aldehydes before a blended floral heart, closing on musk, woods, and amber. Almeras had recently joined Patou as the house's in-house perfumer, and this fragrance, alongside its sibling release Que Sais-Je the same year, represents part of his earliest work establishing Patou's fragrance identity ahead of the house's landmark Joy four years later. Its aldehydic opening places it within the immediate post-No.-5 wave sweeping French perfumery in the mid-1920s.
