Created by Jean-Paul Guerlain, Chant d'Aromes, Song of Aromas, opens on aldehydes and bergamot, moves through a heart of rose, jasmine, and hyacinth, and closes on oakmoss, vetiver, and musk. It marked one of the earliest fragrances created by Jean-Paul Guerlain following his grandfather Jacques's retirement, applying a lighter, more contemporary aldehydic-floral structure than the house's grander orientals like Shalimar.
