Created by Ernest Daltroff for Caron, Alpona opens on lemon, bergamot, grapefruit, and rose, moves through a heart of thyme, orange, jasmine, and orchid, and closes on oakmoss, myrrh, cedar, sandalwood, patchouli, and musk. Its unusual pairing of thyme with a citrus-rose opening gives it a herbal edge uncommon among Caron's more typically powdery, aldehydic 1930s releases, and it remains a lesser-known entry within Daltroff's own catalog alongside Tabac Blond and Nuit de Noel.
