Created by Jean-Paul Guerlain, Vetiver opens on bergamot, citrus, and neroli, moves through an unusually dry heart of tobacco and pepper, and closes on an overdosed vetiver note, tonka bean, and oakmoss. It marked one of the first major fragrances created by Jean-Paul Guerlain, grandson of Jacques Guerlain, signaling a generational transition in the house's creative leadership. Its dry, smoky vetiver-tobacco structure, restrained and sophisticated rather than sweet, is widely regarded as one of the finest vetiver-forward masculine fragrances ever created.
