Created by Francis Kurkdjian for his own house, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Baccarat Rouge 540 opens on saffron and jasmine, moves through a heart of amberwood and ambergris, and closes on cedarwood and fir resin. Named for the specific Pantone-like reference number of the Baccarat crystal bottle designed to mark the crystal house's 250th anniversary, its unusual, luminous ambergris-jasmine accord became one of the most culturally significant and widely copied fragrances of the 2010s, frequently going viral on social media and inspiring a vast market of imitations across mainstream perfumery.
