Created by Jean-Paul Guerlain, launching the Aqua Allegoria line, Herba Fresca opens on lemon and clover, moves through a heart of mint and green tea, and closes on lily of the valley and cyclamen. The Aqua Allegoria series was conceived as a collection of light, transparent, single-theme colognes distinct from Guerlain's denser, more traditional orientals, and it became an influential model for the modern flanker-and-fresh-cologne-collection format widely adopted across the industry.
