Cypress Wood

What it smells like

Cypress wood comes from steam distilled heartwood of Mediterranean cypress. Its aroma is dry and clean, with a subtle camphoraceous pine lift at first, then a mellow terpenic green pine edge. Light herbaceous tones mingle with a warm resinous undertone and a faint lemon note, underlined by a gentle bitterness that lingers. Perfumers use it as a dry woody backbone, adding structure to pine needle, citrus, fougere and chypre accords without sharp greenness.
