Lyral

At a glance

Lyral (HICC) was discovered in 1958 and made by IFF from 1960, becoming the dominant muguet aldehyde in perfumery for fifty-plus years. Patch testing found it caused the highest allergy rate of the EU's 26 regulated fragrance allergens, leading to its 2021 EU cosmetics ban.
