Lilial

At a glance

Lilial (butylphenyl methylpropional) was once one of the most widely used floral notes in perfumery, found in everything from shampoo to perfume. In 2021 the EU classified it a reproductive toxicant and banned it from cosmetics from 1 March 2022 -- a major industry loss.
